Barcelona want to beat Tottenham to £91m Lautaro Martinez signing

Tottenham Hotspur might have eyes on signing Lautaro Martinez from Inter Milan this summer, but Barcelona might have a trump card that could see them beat Spurs to the punch.

Antonio Conte is said to be a huge admirer of Martinez. The pair worked together in Italy before, and reports recently have suggested that Tottenham will go all out for the Argentinian this summer.

However, according to a report from Sport over in Spain, Barcelona have expressed a desire to land Martinez as well, and they could have an ace up their sleeve. Sport reports how Inter will lower their asking price for Martinez if players are included in any deal. And Barcelona have two in Memphis Depay and Miralem Pjanic who interest Inter.

Martinez has a release clause in his contract of around £91m. However, Inter are expected to accept less than that, even more so if they get players in return.

The Argentinian striker – branded as ‘spectacular’ by Lionel Messi – is seen as one of the best forwards in Europe at the moment. A host of big clubs have expressed an interest in him, with Inter prepared to cut their losses and try and sign his international teammate, Paulo Dybala, as his replacement.

TBR’s View: Barcelona Becoming A Nightmare For Other Teams

From having no money to suddenly being able to sign new players, Barcelona are going to be a pain in the backside for teams like Tottenham this summer.

We already witness in January how Barca nabbed Adama Traore from under Spurs’ noses. They are trying it with Erling Haaland and Man City too, and now appear to be in Spurs’ face again with Lautaro.

However, Tottenham will be confident. The Antonio Conte factor could help Tottenham this summer. Martinez knows Conte well and played well under him before. If it comes down to more than money, then Conte could be massive.
